Through Many Trials

“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 15:57)

I am so thankful that the Lord has helped me so many times in my life. I grew up in Mexico and experienced the early years when Brother Nimz, with God’s help, began the services of the Church of God. When we first had the house meetings, I was able to go to them with my siblings. We were blessed by the new songs, which we quickly learned and were able to sing along to.

One particular message that Brother Elke brought remains clear in my memory. It was from Colossians 3:9-10: “Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him.” Those words struck me, and the Holy Spirit convicted me that the old man was still living in me. So, I prayed and found grace. After my conversion, I was also able to be baptized and testify that I had died to the old man and risen to a new life.

The Lord has led me through many trials but also protected me from so many evils of this world: smoking, alcohol, etc.

Once, when I was in the hospital for 14 days, my brothers and sisters prayed for me. I survived three car accidents and a work accident where 700 kg of iron fell on me. Seven of my ribs were broken. But after three weeks I was able to work again.

“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” (Galatians 2:20).

Praise be to the Lord forever! Amen!
