Consider the Lilies of the Field

At the creation of the Earth, God made man and woman in His image (Genesis 1:26). This means that these two people had God’s attributes in their character. They were to cultivate the Garden of Eden and treat the plants, birds, fish, and animals well. And every evening, God visited them and spoke to them. This made them very happy.

Even today, we can live with God because Jesus Christ died and rose again for us. We can read the Bible, God’s Word, and learn from it. Jesus once told His disciples not to worry about what they would eat or what they would wear. They should look at the flowers in the field and how beautiful God had made each one of them and how He cares for all His creatures, but especially for His children. Jesus and His kingdom should take the first place in our lives. Everything else is a bonus gift from God.

Whether you are a boy or a girl – you too can be not just a creation of God but His child! Besides that, God has provided you, through your parents, a wardrobe full of clothes and good meals to eat. Thank God and your parents for this with all your heart. Many people on this earth suffer from hunger and cold because they are very poor or there is war in their country. Take these good things from God’s hand and don’t be dissatisfied or grumpy if something doesn’t quite suit your taste. Say: “Thank you!” anyway, for we don’t have this good life because we are somehow better. It all comes from the benevolent hand of God.

Look at the flowers in the field that are blooming in honor of their Creator, each one according to its kind. You can enjoy all this beauty and rejoice without always thinking only of yourself or comparing yourself with other children: “Do I have the most beautiful dress, the best bicycle?” etc. Please remember that it is not our outward appearance that makes us pleasing to God and man but what we have in our hearts and how we treat other people. Of course, you should also pay attention to clean and neat clothes. But above all, you must radiate love and kindness. Let Jesus give that to you.
