Reflection on Christmas

We are approaching the end of the year. Christmas is before us, a time when we should reflect thankfully on the birth of our Savior. We have the opportunity to step out of the rhythm of our everyday lives, forget about our daily cares and pursuits for a moment, and look to Jesus, who wants to share His love, peace, and joy with us. Jesus is love personified, and He offers Himself to us all!

The news has come that God is love,
We’ve heard and claimed the story.
For this, by faith and life and love,
We bring to God the glory.
No truth more great and hallowed is,
No praise can be enough,
And still we sing and triumph this,
That God above is love.

The Son of God left the riches of heaven to be born in poverty at Bethlehem. He became poor to make us rich, and He was moved by a great love and compassion for us. How great is the love of God! We certainly cannot fully describe it. D. O. Teasley wrote the following as he pondered God’s love:

Behold what love, yes love divine,
The Father showed to thee,
In that He gave His only Son,
Thy soul from sin to free!
Such love cannot be fathomed,
‘Tis like the boundless sea;
His broken heart so wounded,
Is bleeding now for thee.

God’s great love for you and me was made real in Jesus Christ. Have you experienced Him personally? If you have, then treasure this immeasurable gift, live for God, and share the news about our wonderful Savior and Redeemer with those around you. God wants all people to come to the knowledge of the truth and to receive eternal life.

Love Him who first loved you! We wish all of our readers a richly blessed Christmas celebration!
